Accra to Lomé — A Day in Togo

Lomé's largest and most captivating market — multiple floors of fabrics, clothing, produce, spices, crafts, and everyday goods. Famously home to the Nana Benz market women who made their fortunes selling Dutch Wax fabrics. No cars are allowed on the market streets, making it safe and walkable. No entry fee — bring CFA francs. Lomé's dedicated artisan craft centre — workshops and stalls selling handmade carvings, textiles, jewellery, woven fabrics, and clothing at prices significantly lower than equivalent Accra shops. A beautiful stretch of Atlantic beach along the southern edge of Lomé, with a remarkable distinction: it is the only capital city in the world where you can stand on the beach and see the country's main port, main telecoms tower, and presidential palace all at once.
