Itinerary
Day 1 · Departure
Hotel Pickup & Vehicle Briefing — 6:00 AM

Driver and guide meet guests at the hotel at 6:00 AM. Bottled water and snacks distributed. Guide briefs the full 2-day experience — all destinations, the bonfire night, the early Afadjato start on Day 2, and the Royal Senchi finale. Pack for one overnight: clothes, toiletries, and a torch for the bonfire. Proper hiking shoes are mandatory for both days; bring 1.5L personal water for each hike plus a towel and change of clothes for the Wli swim.

Day 1 · Breakfast
Breakfast En Route

Breakfast is pre-ordered from a trusted venue, collected by the driver before departure, and served individually packaged and labelled in the vehicle during the drive. Hot drinks served from a flask. All dietary requirements accommodated at booking.

Day 1 · Transit
Drive to the Volta Region

Approximately a 3–3.5 hour drive northeast from Accra into the Volta Region, through Akosombo toward Hohoe and the Volta highlands. The guide shares the history and geography of the region as the landscape transforms from the Accra plains into rolling hills and mountain ridges.

Day 1 · Hiking
Mount Gemi — Amedzofe

The first summit of the trip. Mount Gemi rises above the peaceful mountain village of Amedzofe and is crowned with an iconic summit cross visible for miles. The hike is accessible for all fitness levels — roughly 20–30 minutes to the summit — with panoramic views across the surrounding hills, valleys, and villages. Entry fee included.

Day 1 · Wildlife
Tafi Atome Monkey Sanctuary & Cultural Village

The village of Tafi Atome has protected its sacred mona monkey population for generations. A local guide leads the group through the forest where the semi-wild monkeys live freely — call out and they come to you, jumping onto arms and shoulders, especially if guests carry bananas (available at the entrance for a small fee). Easy flat walk, joyful for all ages. Entry fee included.

Day 1 · Lunch
Lunch in the Hohoe Area

A sit-down lunch at a trusted local restaurant in the Hohoe area. Menu features Ghanaian staples: jollof rice, light soup, banku with tilapia, or waakye. A restorative midday break before the Wli Waterfall hike. Vegetarian options available. Lunch included.

Day 1 · Nature · Swimming
Wli Waterfall — Tallest in West Africa

A 40-minute guided forest hike crossing 9 suspension bridges leads to the lower falls of Wli — the tallest waterfall in West Africa at approximately 80 metres. The forest trail passes through lush vegetation with hundreds of fruit bats roosting overhead. The natural pool at the base is cold, powerful, and deeply refreshing for swimming. Entry and guide fee included; bring a towel and change of clothes.

Day 1 · Accommodation
Check-in at Wli Accommodation

Check in to the overnight accommodation near Wli Falls — clean, cosy chalets with mountain and waterfall views, minutes from the trail entrance. Guests freshen up, rest, and prepare for the bonfire evening. Dinner at the hotel restaurant is available at guests' own arrangement. The cool mountain air and peaceful surroundings are a complete contrast to Accra; the falls can often be heard from the accommodation. One night included.

Day 1 · Bonfire
Bonfire Night at Wli

In the evening, the group gathers around a bonfire under the open Volta sky. The cool mountain night air, the distant sound of the falls, and the stars above create an extraordinary atmosphere. The guide facilitates music, stories, and stargazing. An early night is strongly recommended — the Afadjato hike begins at 6:00 AM the following morning and is the most demanding section of the trip.

Day 2 · Hiking
Mount Afadjato — Ghana's Highest Peak · 6:00 AM

An early morning summit of Ghana's highest mountain at 885m, when the air is cool, the light is golden, and the views are at their finest. A mandatory local guide from Liati Wote leads the steep ascent — approximately 1 to 1.5 hours up with high rock steps throughout, and around 45 minutes down with equal care. The summit reward is panoramic views across the Ghana–Togo border ridge and the entire Volta Region. Entry and mandatory local guide fee included.

Day 2 · Breakfast
Return to Hotel — Breakfast

After the hike, guests return to the accommodation for a full sit-down breakfast at the hotel restaurant — a well-earned and restorative meal. Guests freshen up, shower, and take their time before checking out and preparing for the drive toward Akosombo. Vegetarian options available.

Day 2 · Transit
Drive from Wli toward Akosombo

Depart Wli after checkout and drive southwest toward Akosombo and the Royal Senchi Resort — approximately 2.5–3 hours through the Volta highlands. The guide introduces Lake Volta, the Akosombo Dam, and the Royal Senchi as the perfect luxury finale to two days of adventure. Snacks and water in the vehicle throughout.

Day 2 · Boat Ride
Boat Ride on Lake Volta — Royal Senchi

On arrival at Royal Senchi, guests board a boat on Lake Volta — the world's largest man-made lake by surface area. The boat glides along the calm waters with scenic views of the lush riverbanks. A peaceful, beautiful counterpoint to two days of mountain hiking. Boat ride included; life jackets provided and mandatory.

Day 2 · Lunch
Lunch at Royal Senchi Resort

A relaxed and luxurious lunch at the Royal Senchi Resort, one of Ghana's finest riverside retreats on the banks of the Volta River near Akosombo. The restaurant serves Ghanaian and continental cuisine: jollof rice, grilled fish, pasta, salads, and fresh tropical juices — the pineapple juice is a must-order. Vegetarian options available. Lunch included.

Day 2 · Leisure
Free Leisure Time at Royal Senchi

A free and flexible afternoon at the resort before the drive back. Guests can relax on the grounds, explore the landscaped gardens with Volta River views, or simply enjoy the peaceful atmosphere — a gentle wind-down after two packed days. The guide remains available throughout. Additional drinks and activities at own cost.

Day 2 · End of Tour
Return Drive to Accra & Hotel Drop-Off

Drive from Royal Senchi back to Accra, approximately 1.5–2 hours depending on traffic. Guests are dropped at their hotels in the early evening. Dinner on Day 2 is not included — the guide shares Accra dining recommendations. Allow extra time on Fridays for traffic.

Cancellation Policy

Free cancellation up to 48 hours before the 6:00 AM Day 1 departure. Dinners and personal drinks beyond bottled water are not included.
