Driver and guide meet guests at the hotel at 5:00 AM. Bottled water and snacks distributed in the vehicle — guests do not need to bring their own water. Guide briefs the full day: the upper falls hike terrain and pacing tips, the lower falls swim, lunch at Wli Water Heights, and the optional Tafi Atome stop for those who selected it. Hiking boots are mandatory — not trainers or sandals — and long trousers are recommended for the upper trail. Bring a towel and change of clothes for the swim.
Pre-selected, freshly prepared breakfast served in the vehicle during the drive — individually packaged and labelled per guest, with hot drinks from a flask. Approximately a 3.5–4 hour drive northeast from Accra into the Volta Region toward Wli village. The guide introduces the Wli Waterfalls, the Agumatsa Wildlife Sanctuary, the differences between the upper and lower trails, and practical tips for the climb. Water and snacks available throughout the drive.
The centrepiece of the day — a serious and deeply rewarding hike to the Upper Wli Falls through the Agumatsa Wildlife Sanctuary, home to over 200 bird species and 400 butterfly species. The trail begins relatively flat before climbing steeply through grassy hillsides and narrow forest paths, roughly 1.5–2 hours up and 1.5 hours down. The far-less-visited upper falls is a powerful cascade plunging into a cold mountain pool surrounded by towering cliff faces — guests swim at the base. The mandatory site guide leads throughout and distributes bottled water. Hiking boots and long trousers essential.
After descending from the upper falls, guests take the 40-minute flat forest trail to the lower falls — a completely different and equally beautiful experience. The trail crosses 9 suspension bridges through lush vegetation beneath a spectacular colony of thousands of fruit bats. The lower falls pool is cold, clear, and powerful — guests swim and relax at the base. Wli Water Heights Hotel is a short walk from the exit, making the transition to lunch seamless. A well-earned sit-down lunch at Wli Water Heights Hotel & Restaurant, located just 15 minutes walk from the waterfall entrance. The menu features Ghanaian and continental dishes with vegetarian and vegan options. The picturesque garden setting, calm atmosphere, and welcoming staff make this a perfect place to rest, change into dry clothes, and refuel after one of the most demanding hikes in Ghana. Lunch included.
Approximately a 3.5–4 hour return drive from Wli (or Tafi Atome, for guests who added it) to Accra. Water and snacks in the vehicle. Guests dropped at their hotels late evening. Dinner is not included — the guide shares Accra dining recommendations. Allow extra time for Friday Accra traffic.

A joyful, light-hearted finale on the return route toward Accra. The village of Tafi Atome has protected its sacred mona monkey population for generations. A local guide leads an easy flat forest walk where the semi-wild monkeys live freely, jumping onto guests when called — bananas at the entrance (small fee) greatly enhance the encounter. Easy flat walk with no elevation, suitable for all ages.
